- Payment information: payment and transaction data processed via Stripe (we do not store full card details on our servers)
- Push notification tokens: device tokens collected via Firebase and Expo to deliver notifications
- Location data: county and area only (we do not collect precise GPS coordinates)
- Technical data: device type, operating system, app version, and error logs
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
- To provide and operate the Service Connect marketplace platform
- To facilitate bookings and process payments between clients and service providers
- To send transactional and service-related notifications (e.g. booking updates, messages)
- To improve, maintain, and develop our services
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorised access
- To comply with legal and regulatory obligations
- To respond to your enquiries and support requests
Our legal bases for processing under GDPR include: performance of a contract (providing our services), legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, service improvement), legal obligation, and consent where required (e.g. marketing communications, where applicable).
4. Third-Party Processors
We use trusted third-party service providers to help us operate Service Connect. These processors process data on our behalf and are bound by data processing agreements where required:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Firebase by Google — file storage and push notification infrastructure
- MongoDB Atlas — database hosting
- Resend — email delivery
- Sentry — error tracking and application monitoring
- Expo — push notification delivery
Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions, in accordance with GDPR requirements.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account remains active and as needed to provide our services. When you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain records for legal, tax, or regulatory compliance (see our Delete Account page for details).

8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These include encryption in transit, access controls, and secure hosting infrastructure. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Cookies and Tracking
The Service Connect mobile application does not use cookies. Our website legal pages (such as this page) are static HTML and do not set tracking cookies. Third-party services integrated into the app (e.g. Stripe, Firebase) may use their own technologies subject to their respective privacy policies.
10. Children
Service Connect is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.
